Early signs of Multiple Sclerosis

In certain parts of the world, Multiple Sclerosis has become the number one debilitating illness among the young adults and it is considered to take place at a rate of 1 in 1000 in the general population. Because of its progressive nature, suffering from MS would not only reduce the quality of life but it can affect a person in many ways than its neurological manifestations. Although there is no cure for this illness, there are medications to reduce the intensity of each relapse as well as to control the frequency of such relapses.

For many, especially when there is a family member who have been diagnosed of having MS, identifying the early signs of Multiple Sclerosis would be a burning question and it would be rather useful to detect a relapse early as it can allow the medications to take control before an attacks becomes worse. Thus, following is a list of early manifestations which can be seen among MS patients although one should remember that these manifestations would vary from one person to another.
  • Tingling and numbness of certain areas of the skin
  • Poor ability to balance
  • Weakness in one or more limbs
  • Altered vision such as blurring and sometimes even visual loss
  • Slurring of speech
  • In coordination
  • Feeling of fatigue...etc.
Although this is not a full list of possible early manifestations, these signs would be the relatively commoner ones and if present should prompt to seek medical advise, especially in instances of positive family history.
